Recovery and adjustment

I've spent the better part of the last week in a deep fog of self pity and denial. I'm not usually such a ninny, but having Brett become a teenager within days of Ellie turning one seems to have shaken me deep in my mommy core, and I've been teetering on a little maternal depression.

The party itself was a huge success. The weather was gorgeous, we had a ton of guests; and there was swimming, a campfire, tons of food, and lots of laughter. I even managed not to cry when we sang Happy Birthday. Well, on the outside anyway.

And in my attempt to make peace with it all, I'm finally posting the pictures from the weekend.

Then I'm going to pull my self up by my bootstraps and step back into the light.

Wow, two HUGE milestones. I hope in the middle of your totally understandable sadness you can also take joy in how much your amazing kids reflect on you as an amazing mom....

Oh, and Elle's little dress with the bubble skirt? To. Die. For.

Oh Caroline,

Gulp. What a day. I agree with what Beth said, I hope you are able to just take in the joy and love right now.

I've missed seeing you on BBC. I finally started my blog to "hopefully" stay connected. I added you on my blogroll, hope you don't mind!

Happy birthday to both of them! And I can't even imagine your sadness. I am broken up over the thought of my baby turning one in a couple of weeks. I can't imagine having another "baby" hitting a growing-up milestone at the same time. It's too much for a mom's heart to handle at once.

But also...ditto the previous comments. All your hard work has resulted in some pretty awesome kids!

I feel for you. On Monday I sent my oldest off to his final year of high school and my baby off to kindergarten. I'm not sure which was more emotional. What am I going to do in the spring when they both "graduate"? Bawl my eyes out.

I'm a blog stalker. I don't even remember how I found you, but your Brettisms struck me and I bookmarked your blog. This time I just had to comment. Feel free to drop by my blog and say hi ifyou are a blog hopper.

I hope you get some "mom time" once school starts.
