Out of the mouth of male babes, part 2

Yesterday morning when the older four headed off to camp (aka mommy-salvation), it started to rain. Evan and I played for a while and then he ping pong-ed around looking forlorn. I had a few errands to run in town so I told him that when Ellie woke up from her nap we would go for a ride in the car, and then stop and get a snack.

Ellie woke up and Evan immediately sprung into action, donning his Crocs with gusto. I explained that I still had to feed Ellie, and he stood silently by the door, watching as she ate. I sat her down when she was done and then flitted from room to room gathering up what I needed. I set the bags down by the front door and then ran back to use the bathroom before we finally hit the road.

When I got back and Evan looked up at me, and in a very tiny, exasperated voice asked "Is you ready now?"

So when do we get back to the point of our lives where we can leave the house within 1 minute of deciding to leave? Man, since having kids it takes me FOREVER to get out of the house. And it's definitely worse with 2 than it was with fun. You, dear Caroline, are amazing with your half dozen. I don't know how you ever manage to leave the house when they are all in town. By the time I got everything together for six kids it would be bedtime. Or midnight.

Oh, yeah, and Evan's a cutie patootie. :)

How in the world did I say "fun" instead of "one" in that comment? It should read, "And it's definitely worse with two than it was with one." Long day.

Teach him young that he will be waiting on women his entire life!

Beth - "fun" instead of "one" - Methinks that was a freudian slip.
Sometimes it takes them as long to get ready to leave the house as it does for me to get ready to go. Especially since half of the time, I'm going back in to look for a "snuggly" or water sippy cups.

Im constantly running back in the house for something... If I plan to leave by 9 I can be out the door by 915 but not out of the driveway til closer to 930 LoL it never fails that the kids are wondering when we can actually leave
