Many thanks to JL and her cool color cookies idea. Luke, Emma, and I had a groovy time this morning making them. Evan had a not-so-groovy time discovering that crayons are not very palatable. 
Lucas re-christened them "coloring muffins", since we were using a mini-muffin tin. I also split the crayon wrappers with a knife to ease the frustration Emma was feeling so acutely in getting them off. 
It really was a lot of fun and the kids got the biggest kick out of making their own art utensils. They both spent a good portion of morning, necks bent over their coloring books, freshly baked coloring muffins in hand. Pure mommy bliss.

I JUST stumbled across this blog, you know. I only knew about Brettisms. Anyway, I'm so glad you guys had a good time with this project. I can't wait until Huck is older and can get a little more into it.
